EFF gears up for elections as Malema declares anniversary celebrations a success

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has declared the party’s 10th anniversary celebration a success and said the EFF is preparing for the 2024 elections.

Last week, the EFF held a gala dinner and filled the FNB stadium with almost 100 000 supporters as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations.

Speaking at a media briefing, Malema said the success of the rally shows that there is no debate about the success of the party.

The EFF leader saluted all attendees and public representatives who brought their constituencies to what he called a historic occasion.

 

DA wants Ramaphosa to condemn Malema’s ‘repeated hateful utterances’

Democratic Alliance leader John Steenhuisen is calling on President Cyril Ramaphosa to speak out against Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema and what Steenhuisen calls the “party’s radical and dangerous vitriol”.

This after Malema sang ‘Kill the Boer’ during the EFF’s tenth-anniversary celebrations over the weekend, in Johannesburg.

In a letter Steenhusien, urged Ramaphosa to advance the rights of all South Africans and ensure the well-being of the Republic.

He emphasised that this was not the first time that Malema has incited anarchy and citizen-on-citizen violence.

 

India's Modi unlikely to travel to South Africa for Brics summit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to be a virtual participant at a summit of Brics nations in South Africa later this month rather than attend in person, sources in New Delhi have said.

The foreign ministry declined to comment, while the prime minister's office did not confirm if Modi would be travelling to Johannesburg for the August summit of leaders from a bloc that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already decided that he will be a virtual participant.

China and Russia are keen to discuss expansion of Brics at the summit, while India has reservations about the idea.
