NPA mum on AfriForum claim of Grace Mugabe extradition

The National Prosecuting Authority is keeping mum about AfriForum's claims that the NPA has applied for the extradition of Zimbabwe's former first lady Grace Mugabe.

The purported extradition is in connection with the alleged assault of model Gabriella Engels in Johannesburg in 2017.

The NPA's spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku responded, "No comment" when asked about the alleged extradition.

Tiger Brands receives listeriosis class action summons, vows to fight it

Tiger Brands has received a summons for a class action suit linked to the listeriosis outbreak.

In February, the court determined that Richard Spoor Attorneys could proceed with a class action application representing over 1 000 people affected by the listeriosis outbreak in 2017 and 2018.

The food group said it received the summons from the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg and that it intends to fight the class action filing.

Public Servants Association calls for urgent action against fraud at Sassa

The Public Servants Association said it was concerned that employees at the South African Social Security Agency may have unfairly taken the fall for unscrupulous activities.

The PSA, which represents the majority of employees at Sassa, said this after a video showing alleged criminals in possession of Sassa cards and money went viral.

The video shows the alleged criminals counting hundreds of Sassa cards they claimed to have used with the assistance of Sassa workers to fraudulently access social grant money.

The PSA said this was the result of an insecure interface system used by the grants agency to process millions of applications.

Sassa said the video was under investigation and the agency was making progress in verifying its authenticity.
