ANC veterans 'outraged' by Ace Magashule's 'umlungu' comments

ANC veterans have spoken out against what it says are "outrageous utterances" by ANC secretary general Ace Magashule this past weekend.

In an address in Philippi, in the Western Cape, Magashule refers to the DA as "umlungu" and urged potential voters not to vote for the opposition party based on the fact that it is a "white party".

The veterans league said this constituted "inciting ANC supporters to exercise their vote in a racist way", and called Magashule’s utterances completely unacceptable.

They said Magashule's behaviour and utterances were completely at odds with the Freedom Charter and the constitution of the ANC.

President Cyril Ramaphosa visited Alexandra last week and promised the residents that an inter-governmental team will Mashaba and iron out a plan to solve service delivery challenges in the township.
