DA to hand over petition against ANC's failure to halt emerging Tshwane informal settlement

12th August 2020

Today, Wednesday 12 August 2020, Democratic Alliance (DA) Tshwane Mayoral Candidate, Cllr Randall Williams and DA representative in Ward 83, Cllr Francois Bekker, will hand over a petition to the DA Cooperative Governance Spokesperson in the Legislature, Solly Msimanga MPL, following a lack of response from the ANC’s illegally imposed administrators to halt an emerging informal settlement on an open piece of land in Ward 83, which includes Erasmuskloof and Moreletapark.

The area in which the land in question is located is a wetland and forms part of the Tshwane green belt where the Wolwespruit originates. This is an ecologically threatened area that is heavily polluted from the severe damaging effect on the larger eco system.

As it is, the administrators' office has not acknowledged a petition and the many letters sent by residents, community interest groups and community policing forums.

Details of the event are:

Date: Wednesday, 12 August 2020

Time: 10:00

Venue: Invaded site

Address: Corner Jochemus and Nossob Streets, Erasmuskloof, Pretoria
