DA: Reappointed Tswaing administrator shows ANC-led North West provincial government not serious about service delivery

The Democratic Alliance (DA) notes and cautiously welcomes the intervention invoked by the Provincial Government to place Tswaing Local Municipality under administration.

This will be the third time that the municipality has been placed under administration. The past provincial interventions have never yielded any real results, instead it created more financial instability and contributed to the lack of service delivery.

We are concerned, however, that Mr Tiro Mose has once again been appointed as the Administrator. In 2011 Mr Mose was appointed as the Administrator when the municipality was placed under administration and still owes the municipality a report on the analysis and the outcome of the intervention.

The DA is of the view that Mr Mose is not the right person for the job of Administrator, he failed to bring change in the institutional capacity within the administration and neglected his duties by not handing in the 2011 report.

Tswaing Local Municipality is in a state of collapse due to the lack of political oversight, lack of service delivery, financial mismanagement and instability.

This Provincial intervention needs to effectively deal with service delivery related issues by bringing stability in Tswaing. There must also be an investigation to all tenders offered and they must terminate all irregular appointments in the municipality.

The DA will continue to monitor and play an oversight role to ensure that financial instability issues are addressed, that the municipality’s administration is functional and ensure that there is service delivery.
