DA in KZN to approach SAPS top brass on violence scourge

The DA in KZN will be approaching provincial SAPS top brass to start acting on the trademark violence that's gripped our province.

This comes after DA Provincial Leader, Francois Rodgers, today visited Bergville councillor, Michael Buthelezi, whose home was attacked in the early hours of Sunday, resulting in the death of his wife and three children - making him the only survivor. Crime, in its various forms, has become synonymous with our province which has earned itself the title of "Crime Capital".

Despite the clear indications that this was a deliberate attack, as also supported by first-hand accounts from Councillor Buthelezi, who's recovering in hospital, the DA was surprised that police are merely investigating an inquest.

When our provincial leader visited the Buthelezi home we also found that police had not cordoned off the property, a crime scene where lives were lost.

As the DA we have highlighted an out-of-control element that has resulted in immense bloodshed and we say "enough!".

This is why the DA provincial leader will be approaching SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, in writing.

The DA also intends to follow-up on this engagement as a show of determination to rid the province of crime.
