City of Mbombela Mayor says infighting within ANC branches hindering service delivery

The City of Mbombela Mayor Sibongile Makhushe has urged Mpumalanga African National Congress (ANC) structures to discontinue infighting, adding that service delivery should be the party’s focus.

Makhushe was speaking during party President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit to the province to address violence within the provincial structure ahead of the elective conference in December.

“We need to stop this infighting as it is costing the country and our people out there who continuously have faith in our organisation. While the fights continue, and we are fighting amongst each other, we are losing ground,” she said.

Makhushe said that employees in municipalities need to understand that the love of ANC started individually and that the mission behind serving the party means serving the people.

“When I say it starts with you, I mean that you need to love the people out there that voted for us enough to say that even if I do not emerge, I have to believe in, support and rally behind that leadership,” she said.

In the previous elections, the ANC was able to retain its power within the Mpumalanga province especially in Mbombela but the infighting has cost the execution of service delivery in the recent past.
