ANC urges Gauteng public to take part in NHI hearings

The Gauteng African National Congress (ANC) on Thursday urged South Africans to participate in and make submissions on the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill at the public hearings taking place in the province.

ANC provincial spokesperson Bones Modise said Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Health will be holding the Gauteng leg of the hearings on the NHI Bill from February 21 to 24.

The ANC said it had mobilised its structures, including alliance partners, across the province, to make submissions at the public hearings.

Modise urged citizens to not miss the opportunity to make their voices heard on the NHI Bill, adding that it was important that all views be heard prior to the Bill being finalised.

“The ANC’s 54th National Conference resolutions and its 2019 to 2024 Election Manifesto directed the Sixth administration to ensure that the legislative framework on the NHI is finalised and that all South Africans get to enjoy universal access to quality healthcare services,” said Modise.
