ANC NC: ANC statement on DA-COPE corruption

The African National Congress in the Northern Cape notes and welcomes the Nama-Khoi Forensic Report as presented by the MEC of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs , Alvin Botes as necessitated by the Auditor Generals management report and conducted by Price Water House.

The report is evident that the ANC –Led government is indeed serious about rooting out corruption in all spheres of governance as it undermines the delivery of services to our people and affects the poor.  The report has also exposed the Democratic Alliance - COPE coalition for being corrupt and not having the best interest of the communities at heart.
The ANC in its Local Government Manifesto committed to crack down on corruption, the ANC therefore commends the Department on rooting out the corruption at Nama-Khoi municipality which was under the stewardship of the DA COPE coalition.

The ANC calls on the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs to hold to account all persons affected by the report by urgently handing the matter to the relevant law enforcement agencies.  In Particular we call on the Hawks to investigate the matter. The Nama-Khoi report is an affirmation that DA-COPE Coalition was nothing but a parade of “Pontiffs of Corruption” who lacked political stature and credibility to clamp on corrupt tendencies which continued unabated in Nama-Khoi under their stewardship (or lack thereof).
