ANC Mpumalanga acting chair wants Ramaphosa to run for second term

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa

African National Congress (ANC) acting chairperson in Mpumalanga Mandla Ndlovu has joined the call for party President Cyril Ramaphosa to run for a second term.

The official nomination processes for national leadership will kick off in August.

Ndlovu welcomed Ramaphosa to the province during his visit of ANC structures, following reports of factionalism, infighting and violence within provincial branches.

Mpumalanga is one of three provinces identified by the party leadership as hotspots that needed intervention. KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape are the other two.

During his visit Ramaphosa called for unity among party members.

Meanwhile, Ndlovu urged Ramaphosa to accept a nomination for a second term and gave his assurance that the province supported Ramaphosa.

“President Ramaphosa, if there will be calls from branches calling for your second term, don't say 'no' to that call,” he said.
