ANC GP: Two DA men caught removing ANC Posters

The ANC Gauteng Province is not shocked at the new levels of desperation that have been reached by the DA in the province. Yesterday (Wednesday, 17 April), two men were arrested after being caught red handed removing ANC election posters in Midrand, Johannesburg.

Upon their arrest yesterday afternoon the two men indicated that they are working for the Democratic Alliance.

The fact that the DA can hire people to conduct acts of criminality during an election period is truly a new low - even for a party as desperate as the DA. As the ANC, we will not take the theft of our property lightly.

It is becoming apparent that those hell bent on dislodging the ANC from driving the agenda of socio-economic transformation will stop at nothing in their desperate attempt to derail the well-oiled ANC machinery. This includes the recent trend of the removal of ANC posters across Gauteng. The removal of our posters is a clear sign of desperation on the part of reactionary forces.

This incident is in direct violation of the Electoral Code of Conduct that political parties in Gauteng, including the DA,  committed themselves to abide by on Tuesday, 09 April 2019.

We will be lodging a complaint with the IEC to look into this gross infringement of the Code and call for a heavy sanction that will send a strong message to those that seek to undermine our democracy.

The details of the police case are the following: Message from SAPS. Case registered on 2019-04-17 at MIDRAND ref nr CAS 405/4/2019. Station contact detail: 011-3471600.
