ActionSA Launches Public Participation Campaign to solicit views on Proposal to move KZN Legislature Back to Ulundi

ActionSA in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) agrees with the IFP’s sentiments to return the KZN Legislature to Ulundi instead of the ANC government’s plan to build a new precinct to the tune of over R6 billion.

Why spend that kind of money when the people of KZN need better housing, water and sanitation infrastructure and sustainable energy supply!

This plan illustrates the dearth of innovative ideas to solve our Province’s most pressing needs by this government. What will extra walls and parking lots do to improve the state of governance and service delivery for the people of KZN? Instead we need public officials who are competent, responsive and up to the task regardless of where they are based because quite simply the people do not care, all they want are services due to them as guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

To this end, ActionSA intends to support the call for this government to utilise the state-of-the-art infrastructure already in place in Ulundi. It is important to note that KZN spends over R11 million per year for the rental of office space in Pietermaritzburg.

However, our views alone are not enough, the people of KZN should have their say. Therefore, in the tradition of The People’s Dialogue, ActionSA’s founding principles, our ground forces across KwaZulu-Natal will be on a public participation campaign to solicit the views of the people of KZN on whether a new legislature should be built or to move back to Ulundi.

The campaign will comprise 3 options: 1) signed petitions for those who do not have access to smartphones or enough airtime for SMS’s. 2) SMS and WhatsApp line at 078 278 2896 and 3) access a link on our website at https://www.actionsa.org.za/move-kzn-legislature to submit an online petition.
