The US Embassy in Pretoria has announced that 46 young South Africans will participate, virtually, in the 2021 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders between June 21 and July 30.

The programme which was launched in 2014, is the flagship of the Young African Leaders Initiative and forms part of the US’ commitment to invest in the future of Africa.

The Fellows will participate in virtual Leadership Institutes which will include leadership training, mentoring and professional development, and will then participate in a virtual summit.

Up to 100 competitively selected Fellows will virtually engage in professional development with US organisations in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

After their Fellowships, Fellows can participate in Alumni Programming to further build their professional skills and networks.
