Of all key challenges facing the public service today, none can be said to be more central than the need to attract, develop and sustain capable managers. Capable managers result through effective leadership
It gives me great pleasure to support the introduction of the PSLD Programme as it strives to strengthen Senior Management capacity, especially in the context of improved service delivery.
The Programme aims at the strengthening of - Policy and Knowledge Management; Human Resource Management and development; Financial Management Skills; Strategic Leadership development; Personal and Interpersonal Skills; Macro, International issues, the essential management tools. This programme should enable and empower all Directors-General and Senior Public servants to produce the quality of management so sorely needed to deliver the quality of services to the public promised by the government.
I am looking forward to the closing session of the PSLDP for the year 2000, where together we will assess and evaluate the strengths and benefits and challenges, which lie ahead, for our departments as a result of the Programme.
I commend the Presidential Strategic leadership Development Programme and look forward to the year ahead.
