6. ORGANISATIONAL UNITS

With a view to a discussion of the structure of the NLSA, a number of organisational units are identified here. The term "organisational unit" is used as a generic term to cover divisions, departments or sections. An organisational unit should carry out coordinated activities in order to produce defined products or services (for external or internal consumption) that relate to a given function or group of functions. This implies that, while functions should be set out in legislation, the grouping together of activities in organisational units should be adapted from time to time. The management of the NLSA should have the freedom to make decisions on organisational units in the light of internal and external changes.

The list which follows is supplemented by Annexure B, which sets out in more detail the projects that could be included in the various organisational units.
