REGULATIONS FOR THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE

The Minister for Safety and Security has, under section 24(1) of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No. 68 of 1995), made the regulations in the Schedule with effect from 17 June 2002.

DEFINITION

SCHEDULE

1. In these regulations "the Regulations" mean the South African Police Service Employment

Regulations, 1999, promulgated by GovernmentNotice 8.389 of 14 April 2000, as amended by Government Notice R. 764 dated 24 August 2001.

INSERTION OF CHAPTER XIII

2. The Regulations are hereby amended by the insertion after Chapter XII of the following chapter:

"CHAPTER XIII TRANSFORMATION AND RESTRUCTURING OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE

74. PRINCIPLES

The transformation and restructuring of the Service shall take place in accordance with any determination made or any directive issued by the Minister which he or she deems necessary in order to achieve the objectives referred to in Chapter III and the transformation and restructuring of the Service.

75. TIME PERIOD

The transformation and restructuring referred to in regulation 74 must, subject to any determination or directive of the Minister, be completed by 16 June 2003.

76. CONFLICT WITH OTHER CHAPTERS

If any conflict arises between a provision of this Chapter or any determination or directive issued in terms of this Chapter and the provision of any other Chapter of these Regulations, the provision of this Chapter or such determination or directive shall prevail.".
