REGULATIONS FOR THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE

The Minister for Safety and Security has, under section 24(1) (g) of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No 68 of 1995), made the regulations in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENT OF THE REGULATIONS FOR THE SOUTH AS RICAN POLICE SERVICE

DEFINITION

  1. In this Regulations, "the Regulations" means the Regulations promulgated by Government Notice No. R. 203 of 14 February 1964, as amended.

AMENDMENT OF REGULATION 8 OF THE REGULATIONS

  1. Regulation 8 of the Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution for subregulation (1) of the following subregulation:

"(1) The ranks in the Service, in order of precedence, are as follows:

National Commissioner
Deputy National Commissioner
Provincial Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner
Assistant Commissioner
Director
Senior Superintendent
Superintendent
Captain
Inspector
Sergeant
Constable"

  1. Regulation 8 of the Regulations is hereby amended by the deletion of subregulation (4).

  2. Regulation 8 of the Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution for the Schedule to Regulation 8 of the following Schedule:
