NATIONAL PARKS ACT, 1976 (ACT No. 57 OF 1976)
REGULATIONS REGARDING THE KALAHARI GEMSBOK NATIONAL PARK, TO FACILITATE ITS MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL AS PART OF THE KGALAGADI TRANSFRONTIER PARK
South African National Parks has in terms of section 29 of the National Parks Act, 1976 (Act No. 57 of 1976), with the approval of the Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, made the regulations as set out in the Schedule.
SCHEDULE
Definitions
"the Act" means the National Parks Act, 1976 (Act No. 57 of 1976)
"the park" for the purposes of regulations 1, 2 and 3 means the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park as defined in Schedule 1 to the Act, managed and controlled as part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park referred to in the Bilateral Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Botswana and the Government of the Republic of South Africa, signed by the Parties at Gaborone on 7 April 1999 and Cape Town on 3 March 1999 and approved by Parliament on 22 September 1 999;
"the principal regulations" means the Regulations for the Control, Management and Maintenance of the National Parks and for the Conduct of the General Business of the Board, published by Government Notice No. R. 2006 of 2 October 1978.

Cross-border movement of visitors
(2) Visitors wishing to enter the Republic of South Africa through the park directly from Botswana or to leave the park directly for Botswana shall do so at Twee Rivieren.
Amendment of regulation 34 of principal regulations
- by the addition to paragraph (i) of subregulation (1) of the following proviso:
"Provided that in the case of the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park referred to in Chapter Vll, the speed limit shall be 50 kilometres an hour."; and
by the addition to subregulation (3) of the following proviso:
"Provided that in the case of the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park referred to in Chapter Vll, the axle weight shall not exceed 8 000 kilograms.".
Amendment of regulation 41 of principal regulations
"Provided that in the case of the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park referred to in Chapter Vll, the altitude shall, not be less than 1 500 feet.".
Amendment of section 62 of principal regulations
"Provided that this subregulation shall not apply to the cross-border movement of visitors contemplated in regulation 3 of the Regulations regarding the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, to facilitate its Management and Control as Part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, published by Government Notice No. R. 261 of 24 March 2000.".
