SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENSHIP ACT, 1995

FIFTH AMENDMENT OF THE REGULATIONS IN TERMS OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENSHIP ACT, 1995

The Minister of Home Affairs has, under section 23 of the South African Citizenship Act, 1995 (Act No. 88 of 1995), made the regulations set out in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

Definitions

  1. In these regulations "the Regulations" means the Regulations in terms of the South African Citizenship Act, 1995, published under Government Notice No.R. 1794 of 17 November 1995, as amended by Government Notice Nos. R.461 of 15 March 1996, R.130 of 16 January 1998, R.447 of 30 March 1998 and R.385 of 24 March 1999.

Substitution of regulation 10 of the Regulations

  1. The following regulation is hereby substituted for regulation 10 of the Regulations:

"Fees

10. The following fees are payable in the respective cases:

  1. Certificate of naturalisation as South African citizen (section 5):
  1. Original: Free
  2. Duplicate: R35-00
  1. Certificate or written confirmation of South African citizenship (section 16): R35-00.
  2. Application for the retention of South African citizenship (section 6(2)): R85-00.
  3. Application for the resumption of South African citizenship (sectionl3): R85-00.
  4. Application for exemption to make use of another country's passport facilities (section 9): R85-00.
  5. Exemption from the loss of South African citizenship (section 26(4)): R85-00." .

Short title and commencement

  1. These regulations shall be called the Fifth Amendment of the Regulations in terms of the South African Citizenship Act, 1995, and shall come into operation on 1 April 2000.
