ELECTORAL COMMISSION

AMENDMENT OF THE ELECTION REGULATIONS

The Electoral Commission has in terms of section 100 of the Electoral Act, 1998 (Act No. 73 of 1998), made the regulations set out in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

Definitions

  1. In these regulations "the Regulations" means the regulations published in Government Notice No. R. 478 of 14 April 1999.

Amendment of regulation 43 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 43 of the Regulations is hereby substituted by the following regulation:

"43. No agent or candidate may within the boundary of a voting station-

  1. display or distribute any party billboard, poster, placard or pamphlet;
  2. wear, carry or display any clothing, headwear, footwear or other apparel in such a manner that any writing, picture or sign thereon, relating to any political party is visible;
  3. attempt to induce, influence or persuade a person to vote for or not to vote for a particular party; or
  4. attempt to induce, influence or persuade a person not to vote.".

Short title

  1. These regulations are called the Second Amendment to the Election Regulations, 1999.
