ROAD TRAFFIC ACT, 1989 (ACT No. 29 OF 1989)

AMENDMENT OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATIONS

The Minister of Transport has under section 132 of the Road Traffic Act, 1989 (Act No. 29 of 1989), made the regulations in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

Definition

  1. In this Schedule "the Regulations" means the Road Traffic Regulations published in Government Notice No. R. 910 of 26 April 1990, as amended by Government Notices Nos. Objective of these regulations

  1. The objective of these regulations is to restore the numbering of the Regulations to what it was before the commencement of regulation 5 of the Thirty Ninth Amendment of the Regulations as published in Government Notice No. 419 of 9 April 1999.

Amendment of regulations 287 to 307 of the regulations

  1. Regulations 287 to 307 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement—
  1. in regulation 287 of regulation number "287" with regulation number "286A";
  2. in regulation 288 of regulation number "288" with regulation number "287";
  3. in regulation 289 of regulation number "289" with regulation number "288";
  4. in regulation 290 of regulation number "290" with regulation number "289";
  5. in regulation 291 of regulation number "291" with regulation number "290";
  6. in regulation 292 of regulation number "292" with regulation number "291";
  7. in regulation 293 of regulation number "293" with regulation number "292";
  8. in regulation 294 of regulation number "294" with regulation number "293";

Amendment of regulation 286 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 286 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement of the phrase "regulations 282 to 289" with the phrase "regulations 282 to 288".

Amendment of regulation 289 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 289 of the Regulations is amended—
  1. by the replacement in subregulation (1)(b) of the phrase "regulation 288" with the phrase "regulation 287"; and
  2. by the replacement in subregulation (2) of the phrase "regulation 288" with the phrase "regulation 287"

Amendment of regulation 290 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 290 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in subregulation (1)(a) of the phrase "regulations 291 to 317" with the phrase "regulations 290 to 317".

Amendment of regulation 291 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 291 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in subregulation (1)—
  1. of the phrase "regulations 290 to 317" with the phrase "regulations 289 to 317"; and
  2. of the phrase "regulation 290(1)(b)" with the phrase "regulation 289(1)(b)".

Amendment of regulation 292 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 292 of the Regulations is amended—
  1. by the replacement in subparagraph (ii) of subregulation (1)(c)—
  1. of the phrase "regulation 294(4)(a)" with the phrase "regulation 293(4)(a)";
  2. of the phrase "regulation 297" with the phrase "regulation 296"; and
  1. by the replacement in subregulation (2) of the phrase "regulation 297" with the phrase "regulation 296"

Amendment of regulation 295 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 295 of the Regulations is amended—
  1. by the replacement, in the words preceding paragraph (a), of the phrase "regulation 290(1)(b)" with the phrase "regulation 289(1)(b)";
  2. by the replacement in paragraph (a)—
  1. of the phrase "regulation 294" with the phrase Regulation 293";
  2. of the phrase "regulation 297" with the phrase "regulation 296"; and
  1. by the replacement in paragraph (b) of the phrase "regulations 296 and 297. with the phrase "egulations 295 and 296".

Amendment of regulation 296 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 296 of the Regulations is amended—
  1. by the replacement in subregulation (2)(a) of the phrase "regulation 294(3) and (4)" with the phrase "regulation 293(3) and (4)";
  2. by the replacement in subregulation (4)(a) of the phrase "regulation 297" with the phrase Regulation 296";
  3. by the replacement in subregulation (4)(b) of the phrase "regulation 297" with the phrase "regulation 296"; and
  4. by the replacement in subregulation (5)—
  1. of the phrase "regulation 297" with the phrase "egulation 296";
  2. of the phrase "regulation 292(1)(c)(ii)" with the phrase "regulation 291 (1)(c)(ii)".

Amendment of regulation 297 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 297 of the Regulations is amended—
  1. by the replacement in subregulation (2)(a)—
  1. of the phrase "regulation 292" with the phrase "regulation 291";
  2. of the phrase "regulation 296" with the phrase "regulation 295";
  3. of the phrase "regulation 299" with the phrase "regulation 298";
  1. and by the replacement in subregulation (2)(b)—
  1. of the phrase "regulation 296" with the phrase "regulation 295";
  2. of the phrase "regulation 301" with the phrase "regulation 300";
  3. of the phrase "regulation 302" with the phrase Regulation 301".

Amendment of regulation 298 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 298 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in subregulation (1) of the phrase "regulation 297" with the phrase "regulation 296".

Amendment of regulation 302 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 302 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in subregulation (3) of the phrase "regulation 301" with the phrase "regulation 300".

Amendment of regulation 313 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 313 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in subregulation (1), in the words preceding paragraph (a), of the phrase "regulations 290 to 318" with the phrase "regulations 289 to 318".

Amendment of regulation 314 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 314 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in subregulation (1), in the words preceding paragraph (a), of the phrase "regulation 303(1), 304(1), 305, 308 or 309" with the phrase "regulation 302(1), 303(1), 304, 307 or 309".

Amendment of regulation 326 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 326 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in subregulation (1)—

  1. of the phrase "regulation 327 or 328" with the phrase "regulation 329 or 330"; and
  2. of the phrase "regulation 330" with the phrase "regulation 332".

Amendment of regulations 327 to 350B of the Regulations

  1. Regulations 327 to 350B of the Regulations is amended by the replacement—
  1. in regulation 327 of regulation number "327" with regulation number "329";
  2. in regulation 328 of regulation number "328" with regulation number "330";

Amendment of regulation 330 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 330 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in subregulation (1) of the phrase "regulation 327 or 328" with the phrase "regulation 329 or 330".

Amendment of regulation 346 of the Regulation"

  1. Regulation 346 of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in subregulation (3)(a) of the phrase "regulation 349" with the phrase "regulation 350A".

Amendment of regulation 350A of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 350A of the Regulations is amended by the replacement in the words preceding paragraph (a) of the phrase "regulation 349" with the phrase "regulation 350A".

Short title

  1. These regulations are called the Fortieth Amendment of the Road Traffic Regulations.
