ELECTORAL COMMISSION

REGULATIONS CONCERNING CUT-OFF DATES FOR GENERAL REGISTRATION
OF VOTERS AND COMPILATION OF VOTERS' ROLL

The Electoral Commission has in terms of section 100 of the Electoral Act, 1998 (Act 73 of 1998), made the regulations set out in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

Definitions

  1. (1) In these regulations, any word or expression to which a meaning has been assigned in the Act shall have that meaning and, unless the context otherwise indicates, "the Act" means the Electoral Act, 1998 (Act No. 73 of 1998)

(2) Unless otherwise indicated, any matter required to be finalised by a specific date must be performed by not later than 24h00 on that date.

Cut - off dates for general registration of voters and compilation of voters' roll

  1. The cut-off dates referred to in section 14(2) of the Act are those set out in the Table.

Short title

  1. These regulations are called the Regulations on Cut-off Dates for General Registration, 1999.

4. Date by which the Chief Electoral Officer must give  notice of the periods during which and the venues where a provisionally compiled voters' roll will be available for inspection. 8 April 1999.
5. Date by which an appeal must be decided and the appellant and the chief electoral officer notified of the decision. 9 April 1999.
6. Date by which the provisionally compiled voters' roll must be available for inspection. 12 April 1999.
7. Date by which any objections in terms of section 15 of the Act in respect of a provisionally compiled voters' roll must be made. 19 April 1999: 17hO0.
8. Date by which an objection made in terms of section 15 of the Act must be decided, and the objector, Chief Electoral Officer and any other persons involved, must be notified. 26 April 1999.
9. Date by which the compilation of the voters' roll must be completed and the voters' roll published. 30 April 1999.
