GOVERNMENT NOTICE

DEPARTMENT OF WELFARE

REGULATIONS REGARDING THE REGISTRATION OF SOCIAL WORKERS: AMENDMENT

The Minister for Welfare and Population Development has, in terms of section 28 of the Social Work Act, 1978 (Act No. 110 of 1978), on the recommendation of the South African Interim Council for Social Work, made the regulations set out in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

Definition

  1. In this Schedule "the Regulations" means the regulations published as Government Notice No. R. 2426 of 30 October 1987, as amended by Government Notices Nos. R. 951 of 3 May 1991 and R. 53 of 15 January 1993.

Amendment of regulation 2

  1. Regulation 2 of the Regulations is hereby amended—
  1. by the substitution for subparagraph (i) of paragraph (a) of the following subparagraph:
  1. "at least four-year courses in the subject Social Work, one year of which may be completed on postgraduate levels";
  1. by the deletion of the proviso after subparagraph (iii) of paragraph (a).

Commencement

  1. These regulations shall come into effect on the date of publication of this notice.
