BIRTHS AND DEATHS REGISTRATION ACT, 1992 (ACT NO. 51 OF 1992)
FOURTH AMENDMENT OF THE REGULATIONS ON THE
REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS AND DEATHS, 1992
The Minister of Home Affairs has, under section 32 of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1992 (Act No. 51 of 1992), made the regulations in the Schedule.
SCHEDULE
Definitions
1.(1) In this Schedule "the Regulations" means the regulations published by Government Notice No. R. 2139 of 9 September 1992, as amended by Government Notice Nos. R. 1503 of 2 September 1994, R. 1635 of 11 October 1996 and R. 879 of 3 July 1998.
(2) In the Regulations any reference to an Annexure to the Regulations shall be contrued as referring to an Annexure to the English text of the Regulations.
Insertion of regulation 8A in the Regulations
2. The following regulation is hereby inserted after regulation 8 of the Regulations:
"Insertion of natural father's particulars in birth register of child
8A. (1) An application referred to in section 11(4) shall be submitted to the Director-General in the form and contain substantially the information as set out in Annexure 11.
(2) If the Director-General is satisfied that the requirements of section 11(4) and (5) have been complied with the natural father's particulars as set out in part B of Annexure 11 shall be entered in the birth register of the child concerned.".
Insertion of Annexure 11 in the Regulations
3. The accompanying Annexure is hereby inserted after Annexure 10 of the Regulations.
Amendment of Index of Annexures to the Regulations
4. The Index of Annexures to the Regulations is hereby amended by the insertion after the item "Abridged death certificate" of the following item:
"Application for the insertion of natural father's particulars in the birth register of child Annexure 11"
Short title and commencement
5. These regulations shall be called the Fourth Amendment of the Regulations on the Registration of Births and Deaths, 1992, and shall come into operation on 4 February 1999.
