TRADE METROLOGY ACT, 1973

I, Alexander Erwin, Minister of Trade and Industry, do hereby amend Govemrnent Notice No. R. 2362 of 18 November 1977, as amended, promulgated in terms of section 42 of the Trade Metrology Act, 1973 (Act No. 77 of 1973), by the substitution of the Schedule thereto of the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

Amendment to Part 1 of the Regulations

  1. Regulation 1 (Definitions) is amended by the substitution of the definition in Regulation 1 (iii) for the following definition;

    "(iii) 'bread' shall mean any baked wheaten or rye product which is sold as or under the name of bread or which has the appearance of bread."

  2. Schedule 4 is amended by the substitution for the words and quantities in the second column of Item 22 of the table of the following words and quantities;

    "Whole units of bread in quantities of 400 9, 800 9, 1,2 kg and 1,6 kg".

  3. Schedule 5 is amended by the substitution in the second column of Item 22 of paragraph 2 of -350 9. for -100 on.
  4. Schedule 6 is amended by the substitution for the quantities in the third column of Item 32 of the table of the following quantities and words;

    "400g and an integral multiple of 10Og above 4009; Provided that bread in quantities other than 400 g, 800 g, 1,2 kg and 1,6 kg shall be wrapped and bear a statement of the net mass, and provided further that no free sample shall be offered for sale as an integral part of any wrapped bread."
