APPLICATION OF THE CIVIL AVIATION REGULATIONS, 1997,
TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE

I, Sathyandranath Ragunanan Maharaj, Minister of Transport, acting under section 2 (3) of the Aviation Act, 1962 (Act No. 74 of 1962), and after consultation with the Minister of Defence, hereby determine that the Civil Aviation Regulations, 1997, published by Government Notice No. R. 1219 of 26 September 1997, apply to the South African National Defence Force to the extent set out in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

1. In this Schedule any word or expression to which a meaning has been assigned in the Aviation Act, 1962 (Act No. 74 of 1962), has the meaning so assigned to it, unless the context otherwise indicates.
2. The Civil Aviation Regulations, 1997, apply to—
1. aircraft belonging to the South African National Defence Force; or
2. aircraft for the time being in use exclusively by the South African National Defence Force, where such aircraft are in flight through controlled airspace or in use at non-military aerodromes and heliports.
