PROCLAMATION

by the President of the Republic of South Africa

COMMENCEMENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT MUNICIPAL SYSTEMS ACT, 2000 (ACT No. 32 OF 2000)

Under section 124 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, 2000 (Act No. 32 of 2000), read with section 13 (3) of the Interpretation Act, 1957 (Act No. 33 of 1957), I hereby determine-

1. 1 March 2001 as the date on which Chapters 1 to 4, and 7 to 12 of the said Act shall come into operation; and
2. 1 July 2001 as the date on which Chapters 5 and 6 of the said Act shall come into operation.
