PROCLAMATION

by the President of the Republic of South Africa

UPPER LIMIT OF STATE'S CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS A REGISTERED PENSION FUND AND MEDICAL AID SCHEME OF WHICH PREMIERS, MEMBERS OF EXECUTIVE COUNCILS AND MEMBERS OF PROVINCIAL LEGISLATURES ARE MEMBERS

In terms of section 8 (3) (a) and 8 (4) (a) of the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers Act, 1998 (Act No. 20 of 1998) ("the Remuneration Act"), I hereby determine that the upper limit of the contribution to be made monthly by the State to a pension fund of which a Premier, a member of an Executive Council of a Province or a member of a provincial legislature, is a member, shall be set out in rule 4.2 of the Rules of the Political Office Bearers Fund, registered in terms of the Pension Funds Act, 1956 (Act No. 24 of 1956).

In terms of the section 9 (3) (a) and 9 (4) (a) of the Remuneration Act, I hereby determine that the upper limit of the contribution to be made by the State to a medical aid scheme of which a Premier, a member of an Executive Council of a province or a member of a provincial legislature, is a member, shall be equal to double the amount payable by the member concerned to that medical aid scheme in terms of the rules of the scheme.
