PROCLAMATION

by the President of the Republic of South Africa

CALLING AND SETTING A DATE FOR AN ELECTION OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY UNDER SECTION 49(2) OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA, 1996

Under section 49(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (Act No 108 of 1996), read with section 17 of the Electoral Act, 1998 (Act No. 73 of 1998), I hereby, after consultation with the Electoral Commission, call an election for the National Assembly and set 2 June 1999 as the voting day.

Given under my Hand and the Seal of the Republic of South Africa at Pretoria, this fourteenth day of April One Thousand Nine Hundred and Ninety-nine.
