PROCLAMATION

by the President of the Republic of South Africa

 COMMENCEMENT OF CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE NATIONAL
FORESTS ACT, 1998 (ACT NO. 84 OF 1998)

In terms of section 80 of the National Forests Act, 1998 (Act No. 84 of 1998) read with section 13(3) of the Interpretation Act, 1957 (Act No. 33 of 1957), I hereby determine 1 APRIL 1999 as the date on which the following sections in the various Chapters and Parts of Chapters, Schedules of the National Forests Act, 1998 (Act No. 84 of 1998), will come into effect:

Sections 1 and 2

Chapter 2: Sustainable Forest Management

Sections 3 - 6

Chapter 3: Special measures to protect forests and trees
