PROCLAMATION
by the President of the Republic of South Africa
COMMENCEMENT OF CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE
NATIONAL
VELD AND FOREST FIRE ACT, 1998 (ACT NO. 101 OF 1998)
In terms of section 37 of the National Veld and Forest Fire Act, 1998 (Act No. 101 of 1998) read with section 13(3) of the Interpretation Act, 1957 (Act No. 33 of 1957), I hereby determine 1 April 1999 as the date on which the following sections in the various Chapters of the National Veld and Forest Fire Act, 1998 (Act No. 101 of 1998), will come into effect:
Chapter 1: Introductory Provisions
Sections 1 and 2
Chapter 4: Veldfire prevention through firebreaks
Sections 14- 18
Chapter 5: Fire fighting
Sections 19 - 21
Chapter 6: Administration of the Act
Sections 22 - 24
Chapter 7: Offences and Penalties
Sections 25 and 26
Chapter 8: Enforcement
Sections 27 - 30
Chapter 9: General and transitional provisions
Sections 31 - 37
