 PROCLAMATION

IMMUNITIES AND PRIVILEGES GRANTED TO THE WORLD COMMISSION ON DAMS AND ITS TRANSFERRED OFFICIALS

Under the powers vested in me by section 4 (c) (i) of the of the Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act, 1989 (Act No. 74 of 1989), I hereby confer the immunities and privileges contained in the Schedule upon the World Commission on Dams and its transferred officials.

Given under my Hand and the Seal of the Republic of South Africa at Pretoria, on this Thirteenth day of November, One thousand Nine hundred and Ninety-eight.

SCHEDULE

Immunities and privileges granted to the World Commission on Dams and its transferred officials in accordance with section 4 (c) (i) of the Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act, 1989 (Act No. 74 of 1989), for the period up to 31 December 2000 are—

  1. The immunities and privileges to be accorded to the transferred officials of the World Commission on Dams who are not citizens of or permanently resident in the Republic of South Africa are—
  1.  
  1. exemption from the requirement to obtain residence and work permits for the transferred officials of the World Commission on Dams; and
  2. exemption from the requirement to obtain residence permits for the spouses and dependants of the transferred officials of the World Commission on Dams;
  1. exemption from income tax imposed on or in connection with any emoluments or allowances paid to them or their official services at the World Commission on Dams;
  2. exemption from value-added tax paid or borne on supplies of goods and services made for official purposes;
  1. Immunities accorded to the World Commission on Dams are—
  1. exemption from value-added tax paid or borne on supplies for goods and services made for official purposes.
