NATIONAL PROSECUTING AUTHORITY ACT, 1998
ESTABLISHING OF SPECIAL INVESTIGATING DIRECTORATE: ORGANISED CRIME AND PUBLIC SAFETY
Under section 7 (1) (a) of the National Prosecuting Authority Act, 1998 (Act No. 32 of 1998), and with the concurrence of the Minister of Justice and the National Director of Public Prosecutions, I hereby establish an Investigating Directorate, to be known as the Investigating Directorate: Organised Crime and Public Safety, in respect of the offences and categories of offences specified in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE
- murder;
- fraud;
- theft and any offence involving dishonesty;
- robbery with aggravating circumstances as defined in section 1 of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977 (Act No. 51 of 1977);
- extortion;
- kidnapping;
- arson;
- malicious injury to property;
- breaking or entering any premises, with the intent to commit an offence;
- public violence; or
- the Explosives Act, 1956 (Act No. 26 of 1 g56);
- the Income Tax Act, 1962 (Act No. 58 of 1962);
- the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 (Act No. 91 of 1964);
- the Armaments Development and Production Act, 1968 (Act No. 57 of 1968);
- the Arms and Ammunition Act, 1969 (Act No. 7!D of 1969);
- the Intimidation Act, 1982 (Act No. 72 of 1982);
- the Internal Security Act, 1982 (Act No. 74 of 1982);
- the Diamonds Act, 1986 (Act No. 56 of 1986);
- the Sea Fishery Act, 1988 (Act No. 12 of 1988';
- the Corruption Act, 1992 (Act No. 94 of 1992);
- the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act, 1992 (Act loo. 140 of 1992); or
- the Proceeds of Crime Act, 1996 (Act No. 76 of 1996),
committed in an organised fashion or which may endanger the safety or security of the public, or any conspiracy, incitement or attempt to commit any of the above-mentioned offences..
