TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION: COMMITTEE ON AMNESTY
PROCLAMATION UNDER SECTION 20 OF THE PROMOTION OF NATIONAL UNITY AND RECONCILIATION ACT, 1995 (ACT NO. 34 OF 1995)
Notice is hereby given that amnesty in terms of section 20(1) of the Promotion of National Unity and Reconciliation Act, 1995 (Act No. 34 of 1995), was granted
(a) on 21 August 1998 to -
in respect of the robbery of Pep Stores committed on 17 February 1992 at or near Botshabelo;
(b) on 11 September 1998 to ROBIN HOUSTON HOLMES (identity number 460503 5133 00 0), in respect of the offence of illegal production and distribution of prohibited material, namely T-shirts depicting defiance of the Government committed during or about the period 1977 to 1978 at or near Pietermaritzburg;
(c) on 7 September 1998 to MATTHEW SIDNEY GAYLARD (identity number 690818 5094 08 1), in respect of -
committed during the period 1989 to 1990 at or near Stellenbosch; and
(d) on 7 September 1998 to
in respect of the murder of Brigadier ANDREW MALOPE committed in or during August 1986 at or near Winterveld in the former Republic of Bophuthatswana; and
(iv) NEO POTSANE (identity number 600302 5922 08 7),
for his participation in the conspiracy to murder Brigadier ANDREW MALOPE in or during
August 1986 at or near Winterveld in the former Republic of Bophuthatswana;
(e) on 16 September 1998 to PHILA MARTIN DOLO (date of birth 21 November 1968),
in respect of
on or about 30 May 1993 at or near Diepkloof in the then Transvaal; and
(f) on 16 September 1998 to SHAKESPEARE THAMI BUTHELEZI (date of birth 12 December 1969), in respect of
RICHARD MALOPE;
BASE TLADI; and
KHEHLA MOSES TSHABALALA,
committed on or about 16 March 1993 at or near Twala Section, Kathlehong;
(g) on 18 September 1998 to -
in respect of
(h) on 18 September 1998 to SUNNYBOY JOHANNES SIBIYA (identity number 650325 5739 08 5), in respect of the murder of VUSUMUZI EPHRAIM DHLUDHLU on or about 17 October 1992 at or near eMzinoni, Bethel, in the then Transvaal.
