PROCLAMATION IN TERMS OF SECTION 20 (6) OF THE PROMOTION OF NATIONAL UNITY AND RECONCILIATION ACT, 1995 (ACT NO. 34 OF 1995)
Notice is hereby given that amnesty in terms of section 20 (1) of Act No. 34 of 1995, was granted-
(1) on 12 August 1997 to NZIMENI JACK MENERA (born 1965-12-25) in respect of-
(i) the attempted murder of Susan Phehlane;
(ii) malicious damage to the property of Morgan Phehlane;
(iii) assault with the intention to inflict grievous bodily harm to Edward Phehlane; and
(iv) malicious damage to the property of Edward Phehlane,
on 14 July 1991 at Majwemaswea in the District of Brandfort.
Amnesty was refused in respect of the attempted murder of Patrick Phehlane on 14 July 1991 in the District of Brandfort;
(2) on 14 August 1997 to DITHAKO BENJAMIN CHOLOTA (born 1962-08-30) in respect of the attempted murder of Mr Plaatjie on 1 May 1992 at Tumahole in the District of Parys;
(3) on 14 August 1997 to SIMON PULE MOALOSI (born 1969-10-21) in respect of the murder of Mr Plaatjie on 1 May 1992 at Tumahole in the District of Parys;
(4) on 14 August 1997 to WILLIAM OUPANYANA THOABALA (born 1969-09-18) in respect of the attempted murder of Mr Plaatjie on 1 May 1992 at Tumahole in the District of Parys;
(5) on 17 August 1997 to HENDRIK PETRUS GELDENHUYS (born 1958-08-05) in respect of-
(i) contravention of section 36, read with sections 1, 39 and 40, of the Arms and Ammunition Act, No. 75 of 1969;
(ii) contravention of section 32 (1) (e), read with sections 1, 32 (6) and 40, of the Arms and Ammunitions Act, No. 75 of 1969;
(iii) contravention of section 6 (1) of the Explosives Act, No. 26 of 1956; and
(iv) contravention of section 5 (b) of the Teargas Act, No. 16 of 1964,
on 4 February 1992 in the District of Volksrust; and
(6) on 17 August 1997 to HERMANUS CHRISTIAAN GELDENHUYS (born 1958-11-05) in respect of-
(i) contravention of section 36, read with sections 1, 39 and 40, of the Arms and Ammunition Act, No. 75 of 1969;
(ii) contravention of section 32 (1) (e), read with sections 1, 32 (6) and 40, of the Arms and Ammunitions Act, No. 75 of 1969;
(iii) contravention of section 6 (1) of the Explosives Act, No. 26 of 1956; and
(iv) contravention of section 5 (b) of the Teargas Act, No. 16 of 1964,
on 4 February 1992 in the District of Volksrust.
