DEPUTY PRESIDENT ZUMA TO TRAVEL TO MALAYSIA

Deputy President Jacob Zuma will travel to Malaysia tomorrow, 30 July 2002, on a working visit to attend the Langkawi International Smart Partnership Dialogue 2002.

The theme for this year's dialogue is "Towards a Smarter Globe - Enhancing Security and Prosperity for Development through Smart Partnership".

The Deputy President's delegation includes the Minister for Safety and Security, Mr Charles Nqakula, and the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

Deputy President Zuma will address the conference on NEPAD on Friday, 2 August 2002. South Africa's focus will be on peace and stability in the continent in relation to the overall security theme of the Dialogue this year.

The Langkawi Smart Partnership Dialogue creates a platform for Heads of State and Government and business leaders, as well as media representatives to share ideas on the best methods of creating wealth through public/private smart partnerships.

The conference will run from the 1st to the 4th of August 2002.
