SOUTH AFRICA CONGRATULATES THE BRAZILIAN SOCCER TEAM

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has, on behalf of the Government and people of South Africa congratulated the Brazilian team at the 2002 soccer world cup on their record fifth victory

"I offer my congratulations to the Brazilian nation," said Dr Dlamini Zuma.

"Particularly impressive was the good spirit in which the game was played by both sides that epitomises the manner in which friendly competition can inspire so many people the world over and bring them together despite sometimes very real political or social differences and tensions."

The German team is also to be congratulated on its fine achievement in reaching the final match, and on its performance.
