"The Transport Sector Prepares for the World Summit on Sustainable Development"
In preparation for the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) to be held in South Africa Johannesburg in August and September, The South African National Minister of Transport, Abdulah M. Omar has called a conference to discuss sustainable transport issues in South Africa and in the SADC region.
The theme of the conference is "Sustainable Transport for sustainable development"

VENUE: Esselen Park Conference Center
Time: 8:am to 4:pm
The conference will discuss the role of transport in pushing back the frontiers of poverty. Transport in economic development. Delegates will also touch on issues of integrated transport, intermodalism logistics and modal integration plus infrastructure plus infrastructure development. Public passenger transport , bus, taxi and train. Safety issues on rail, at sea, in the air and on the road. Aviation and Maritime transport.
The conference will be attended by all stakeholders from the transport sector, NGO's, government departments, local government, business South Africa and a delegation from the Ministry of Environmental Affairs led by the Deputy Minister Mrs Mabudafhasi.
The Johannesburg World Summit Company will also be given an opportunity to update delegates of the readiness of South Africa to host this world event.
