25 April 2002

Pretoria: Public Service and Administration Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi is expected to arrive in Palo Alto, California, in the United States today, where she will be engaging leading Information Technology leader Hewlett-Packard on their intended interventions in promoting Information Communication Technology in South Africa. It is expected that the Minister during her Budget Vote Speech will announce a catalytic compact with Hewlett Packard on ICT on May 23rd.

From Palo Alto, the Minister will leave for Canada where she will deliver the prestigious annual Manion Lecture for 2002. Fraser-Moleketi will also

use this opportunity to meet with officials from the Canadian Center for Management Development (CCMD) which focuses on training and development for the civil services, where she will explore a partnership with the institute for developing learning organisations and broad project management skills in the civil service.

Whilst in Canada Fraser-Moleketi will also address a special freedom day celebration expected to be attended by South Africans living in Canada in Ottawa on 29 April 2002.
