Pretoria: Today, Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Ms Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi will be attending the Governing Board meeting of the Centre for African Research in Administration for Development (CAFRAD) from 15 - 17 April in Tangier Morocco.
This meeting will review the implementation of the Charter for Africa Public Service that was signed by all members of CAFRAD. It will also undertake a critical analysis of current administrative and institutional reform programmes, reflecting on better practical strategy, mechanisms and methods for framing and implementing reforms and change in the African countries. These will include the level of public service restructuring, research and training and development. The Governing Board meeting will intergrate a Workshop on Strategic Planning and Change in Management in the Public Service, with emphasis on Administrative Reform, Change and Governance.
Minister Fraser-Moleketi will also raise the state of readiness of public service in the implementation of NEPAD, implementation of strategies that will build peace and destroy conflict. Minister Fraser-Moleketi said the backbone of implementing change and NEPAD resolutions is the public service.
She said "public servants mind-set need to be re-oriented to deal with orthodox management styles and act as problem solvers in service delivery initiatives".
The Executive Committee views this workshop as imperative as conducting reforms for change and development has been a major concern for African countries. With this background, Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi is proud to be a part of this Executive Committee.
