President Thabo Mbeki yesterday (Wednesday, 16 January 2002) appointed Kgomotso Moroka and Mr. Mantla Gantsho as Commissioners in the Commission of Inquiry into the Rapid Depreciation of the Exchange Rate of the Rand and Related Matters, chaired by Advocate John Myburgh.
Advocate Kgomotso Ditsebe Moroka is a practising advocate and member of the Johannesburg Society of Advocates and sits as trustee of a number of non-governmental organisations. She also serves as a member of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC).
Mr. Mandla Sizwe Vulindlela Gantsho is currently Chief Executive and Managing Director of the Development Bank of South Africa. He is a former Commissioner of the Finance and Fiscal Commission and served in various positions in international and domestic financial institutions.
The Presidency welcomes these appointments and is confident that these capable individuals will ensure a swift and thorough investigation and resolution of the inquiry.
