President Thabo Mbeki, acting under the provisions of section 84, sub-section 2F of the Constitution of the RSA has decided to establish a commission of enquiry to investigate recent developments around the sharp decline in and devaluation of the national currency.
The commission will be headed by advocate John Myburgh from the Johannesburg Bar, a former Judge President of the Labour Appeal Court, presidential spokesman Bheki Khumalo said.
He will be assisted by other commissioners with the necessary forensic skills and whose names will be announced at a later stage.
Due to the urgency of the enquiry, the commission is expected to start its work as soon as possible.
