The Minister of Social Development, Dr Zola Skweyiya has strongly condemned the assertion that sex with children leads to AIDS cure and has said that such acts are criminal and deserve to be rejected and condemned by all in our society.
"The growing "assertion" that having sex with a child cures AIDS is not only wrong but needs to be strongly condemned and stopped before it leads to even more heinous crime committed against innocent children as a priority in all spheres of our lives." Said the Minister.
The Deputy President Mr Jacob Zuma has called for a Summit on Moral Regeneration early next year to address this issue. The government in general and the Department of Social Development in particular is working closely with the faith - based organisations, the business sector, labour, the NGO's and other patriotic members of society to ensure that the Summit is successful.
"Through that Summit on Moral Regeneration, we want to ensure that we deal more decisively with the growing number of abuse and violence against women and children in our society including the rape of five to nine month old babies. We condemn such dastardly acts. They are an indictment to our society and we urge all patriots to join our efforts in reversing this tide. Let us do everything in our power to protect all our children against all forms of abuse and violence. We need to restore Ubuntu and make sure that your child is my child and my child is your child". further said the Minister.
