President Mbeki sent messages of congratulations to Retief Goosen and Ernie Els today to congratulate them on winning the Golf World Cup yesterday in Gotemba, Japan.
The South Africans won the cup from the defending champions; the USA in 2 series of play-offs, removing the USA and New Zealand in the first and then proceeding to beat Denmark with a final score of 66.
The President's message to them was that the entire South Africa is beaming with pride and joy at their victory. They stand out as a shining example to South Africa's youngsters of what can be achieved with hard work and determination.
