The Minister of Social Development Dr Zola Skweyiya, will today receive a donation for needy children from more than thirty Foreign Embassies and High Commissioners accredited to South Africa. The function will be held a 19:30 at the Collosseum Hotel, Pretorius Street, Pretoria.
"We are humbled and greatly appreciate this gesture from the international community and we hope it will give more meaning to our on-going co-operation in building a world of peace and happiness for children. We will make sure that this money reaches the most needy children and contribute to the betterment of their conditions as part of our project to build a caring society and a better life for all," said the Minister.
The occasion is organised by the South African International Diplomatic Association (SAIDA), a voluntary organisation under the auspices of the Department of Foreign affairs.
"We close theme "Needy Children" when we heard of your initiative called "Nakekel' Izingane Yakh' Isizwe (Care for the Children. Build the Nation which focuses on vulnerable and orphaned children in squatter camps, informal settlements and disadvantaged communities," said SAIDA in a letter to Minister Skweyiya.
