Deputy President Jacob Zuma is to visit Gaberone in the Republic of Botswana to attend the Plenary Meeting of the Global Coalition for Africa.
The Deputy President will leave on Wednesday, 24 October 2001 and return to South Africa on Friday, 26 October 2001.
The GCA Plenary meets once every five years and is an occasion for taking long-term perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing Africa.
The theme of the Plenary is "The Private Sector - Key to African Development," and it will provide an opportunity for discussion of the private sector's contribution to economic growth, employment and poverty reduction.
The meeting is also expected to consider what African governments, the private sector itself and Africa's external partners need to do to facilitate and support the development of the private sector in Africa.
