The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma was on Thursday at 4.45pm informed of the death of Mr Nick Rowe, an South African citizen who died following recent terrorist attacks in several cities of the United States of America.
Mr Rowe was making a presentation to employees of Canter Fitzgerald at Windows of The World, a restaurant which was located on the 106th Floor of the World Trade Centre at the time of the attack.
Rowe worked for UME Voice, a United States company in New York.
His body was found under the rubbles at the WTC at 3.30am (SA time) and was positively identified.
Accordingly, the Minister has directed the South African mission in New York to assist the Rowe family to secure a death certificate and to bring his mortal remains back to South Africa.
The Minister joins millions of our people in extending our heartfelt condolences to his parents, two sisters - Nadiem and Rachel, his brother Paul, friends and colleagues.
The South African government will continue to work with the American authorities until the missing South African citizens have been located.
