GAUTENG DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC AFFAIRS ON BOGUS LIQUOUR LICENSE INSPECTORS

Issued by: Gauteng Provincial Government

3 August 2001

The Gauteng Department of Finance and Economic Affairs has recently received a number of reports about people posing as either license inspectors or members of the Gauteng Liquor Board. These people falsely collect money from liquor stores or supermarkets on the pretext that they will apply for licenses on their behalf to trade with liquor on Sundays.

The department wishes to advise members of the public, and license holders that trading on Sunday is still prohibited.

Secondly all fees due, owing and payable are only paid at the offices of the Receiver of Revenue. No payments are made to the Liquor Board and or its officials.
