The Minister of Transport, Dullah Omar, all provincial transport MEC’s and a top-level delegation from the transport industry will visit the Netherlands from 3-6 July 2001. H.E Priscilla Jane, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, will welcome Minister Omar and his delegation at Schiphol Airport.
The delegation will discuss among other issues Intermodalism, Hunterland connections and intelligent transport systems.
They will also visit the Dutch driving test organization CBR in Rijswijk to look at their safety programme and compare it with the South African safety plan and strategy. The visit will also discuss the best transport models and experiences between the two countries.
The meeting will also look at low cost mobility, road safety, and research on accident reporting. It will also take a very concentrated focus to the bicycle project “Shova Lula” where the two countries will share their experiences on how best to speed up the process and ensure that many of school going youth start using this cheap and effective mode of transport.
The delegation will also participate at the South African Netherlands Transport Forum meeting that will be held on July 4, 2001. The forum was established after the signing of the protocol in the Netherlands in January 5, 2001 between the Ministry of Transport, public works and water management of the Kingdom of Netherlands, and the government of the Republic of South Africa concerning Bilateral Cooperation in the fields of Transport and Infrastructure development.
The meeting will give report on all SANTF projects that have taken place. The protocol will also be reviewed.

The Minister will visit the War Crime Tribunal and the international court of justice at The Hague.
