THE ALEXANDRA RENEWAL PROJECT

At the official opening of Parliament in February 2001, the State President announced a seven year plan to redevelop Greater Alexandra in Johannesburg.

The estimated budget for the Project is R1,3 billion over 7 years.

The Project seeks to fundamentally upgrade living conditions and human development potential within Alexandra by:

A Project Team was established within the Provincial Government Housing Department and draft proposals have been formulated that include a strategic framework and projects to be undertaken in terms of the following areas: economic development, housing, spatial planning and the environment, engineering services, education, health, welfare, sports, recreation, arts, culture, public safety and security administration support and heritage. Before the overall programme is finalised the Provincial Government would like the input of relevant stakeholders.

Accordingly the Gauteng Premier M Shilowa and the MEC for Housing P Mashetile cordially invite you to the Alexandra Summit.

The summit will be held at the Liban Conference and Banquet Centre, cnr Western Service and Mount Lebanon Road, Woodmead, Ext. 19.
